Families in My Neighborhood
August 27 @ 11:00 am - 11:30 am
During the 1910’s residents of Tacoma wanted the peace and quiet of the suburbs before the suburbs became popular. Craftsman homes on the corner of North 13th and Stevens Street, North 12th and Stevens Street and North 12th & Huson Street still stand today. Residents Mr. William Lechner, a barber; Mr. Christian Jorgensen a laborer and Mr. Carl Carlson a metal worker would have all known each other, after all these were the only homes in the area. Hear the stories of how these families intertwined, how they traveled on horseback and how this neighborhood grew to what it is today.
