Did you know Mr. Hosea A. Briggs came to Tacoma seeking a sister he never met? Did you know there once was a horse pasture on North Orchard Street where two horses named Thunder & Lightening lived? When Mr. Briggs came to Tacoma, he immediately liked Tacoma, called his wife stating to gather their children and belongings as they were all moving to Tacoma. Before North 30th Street was paved, before Westgate Shopping Center, before Tupperware parties, Briggs Construction Company built 90 homes in the Westmoreland neighborhood of Tacoma’s North End. See where the sales office is still standing and learn about the mind boggling 5000 people that attended the open house in August 1951.
